🇨🇦 HAPPY CANADA DAY FROM SHORA! 🇨🇦

What a wonderful afternoon we shared at our SHORA Pre-Canada Day BBQ!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate, connect with neighbours, and cheer on Team Canada. And what a finish—Team Canada won with just one minute to go in regular time! It made an already special day even more memorable.

It was especially nice to welcome those who have recently joined SHORA—we’re so glad you’re part of our neighbourhood.

We are also grateful to nature for providing such a spectacular setting for our celebration. From children exploring the tidal pools, to an eagle soaring overhead, to the float planes gliding across the inlet, we were reminded just how fortunate we are to call this beautiful place home.

Events like this only happen because so many people generously give their time and talents.

A special thank you to:

– Everyone who helped with set-up, decorating, cooking, serving food, and the many behind-the-scenes tasks that kept everything running smoothly.
– Our wonderful musicians—Ron Leclerc, Reg & Lynn, and The Mother Pluckers—for filling the afternoon with great music.
– Alex and Jody, who created such a fantastic children’s activity area featuring a scavenger hunt, rock painting, face painting, nature art, Canada tattoos, and a bubble machine.
– The Sunshine Coast FireSmart Team for joining us and sharing valuable wildfire preparedness information with our community.
– Everyone who stayed behind to help clean up afterward. Many hands truly do make light work!

SHORA is more than a neighbourhood—it’s a community. Days like this remind us how fortunate we are to live in a place where neighbours come together, volunteer, laugh, and support one another.

Thank you all for making this year’s celebration such a success.

Community Services Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan – Draft Plan Now Available

Earlier this year, many SHORA residents participated in the District of Sechelt’s consultation on the Community Services Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan. Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas.

The project has now reached the draft plan stage, and the District is once again inviting the community to provide feedback before the plan is finalized.

This master plan will help guide future decisions about parks, recreation, culture services, and community facilities, with the goal of enhancing quality of life for everyone in Sechelt.

Please take a few minutes to review the draft plan via the link here.

If you would prefer to provide written feedback, you can email the project consultant directly:
 cassandra@expeditionconsulting.ca

Every voice helps ensure the final plan reflects the needs and priorities of our community. We encourage SHORA residents to take part.
